Crochet Pattern ~ Back Porch Washcloth
by Sherry Tuxbury
| Here's a simple crochet pattern to try. Hand-made cotton washcloths are much softer than regular facecloths. Using unmercerized cotton makes care simple, just put them in the washer and dryer with your towels. |
 |
Materials:
- crochet hook size H or size required to obtain the stitch gauge
- 1 skein varigated unmercerized cotton (we suggest: Lily Sugar 'n'
Cream and Bernat Handcrafter Cotton)
Stitch Gauge: 15 sts = 4 inches
Pattern: Chain 40 sts. Row 1:
Single crochet in second and every chain across, turn. Row 2: Chain
one, single crochet in each stitch working in front loops only,
turn. Repeat row 2 for 28 rows. Weave in yarn ends.
Approximate size of the washcloth is 10 1/4 inches by 9 inches. You may
complete more rows to make the cloth larger if preferred.
Note: The pattern uses the entire skein of Bernat Handcrafter
cotton. There is extra yarn left when using the Lily Sugar 'n'
Cream.
